Share the wonders of science and nature with your family. The Manatee Center has hands-on fun for children of all ages. From art classes and adult workshops, to story time and animal encounters, there is something to do all year-round!
Gather round as we share some of our favorite nature themed children’s books! This storytime is free with admission on the first Sunday of every month at 2 pm.
FinTastic Fish Feeding
Come meet the fintastic fishes at the Manatee Center and learn how they swim, eat and live! Manatee Center staff will be feeding and talking about our seahorses, clownfish, snappers and many more including Eli, the Moray eel and Big Red, the giant red hermit crab. Every Tuesday, Thursday & Saturday at 1 pm.
Lunch & Learn Lecture Series
Join us the second Friday of each month for informative lunch lectures by guest speakers that vary from biologists to writers & scientists to artists. This free lecture begins at noon. Bring a lunch, bring a friend, and discover something new!
Tide Pool Touch Tank
Have you ever held a sea star or met a baby lobster? Our public touch tank demonstration will introduce you to all of our resident invertebrates. Demonstrations are held every Wednesday at 10:30 am and again at 2 pm.
Meet the MOEC Reptiles
Crawl, swim or slither to the Manatee Center to learn all about our resident reptiles. Get your chance to old Diego, the red rat snake! Every Friday at 10:30 am.
Seahorse Snack Time
Have you ever wondered how a seahorse eat with such a small mouth? Or how baby seahorses are born? Become a seahorse expert by joining us as we share a snack and watch live seahorses feed, swim and play. Every Friday at 3 pm.
