Midwives were the foundation of healthcare for enslaved African Americans in Florida. Come to the Manatee Center’s Lunch & Learn on Friday, February 14th at noon to listen, learn, touch and smell as historic midwife, Pearl, portrayed by Dr. Martha Bireda, Blanchard House Museum Director, shares the herbs and plants that kept enslaved Africans healthy on the Bellamy Plantation.
